Shot man known to police: RUC
The RUC say a man shot dead overnight in a mainly Protestant area of north Down was known to them.
Adrian Porter, 34, was killed when gunmen fired more than 30 bullets into a house in which he was sitting.
A second man who was sitting close to the victim was also shot but survived with slight injuries. He had been the subject of a death threat less than 48 hours previously.
A caller claiming to represent a previously unheard-of loyalist group phoned UTV on Monday, saying the man had two days to get out of the North or face what he called "summary justice".
RUC officers went to tell him of the threat, but were informed he was living in England.
Superintendent Jonathan McIvor from Bangor RUC station said the shooting was a "callous and cowardly attack".
