Second suspected foot and mouth outbreak in North

Authorities in the North are investigating a possible second case of foot and mouth, Stormont Agriculture Minister Brid Rodgers has confirmed.

Authorities in the North are investigating a possible second case of foot and mouth, Stormont Agriculture Minister Brid Rodgers has confirmed.

Mrs Rodgers said a suspect case involving a single sheep displaying symptoms was discovered in a slaughter house in Dungannon, Co Tyrone, earlier today.

So far only one outbreak has been confirmed in the South Armagh area.

The sheep in question originated on a farm near Augher, Co Tyrone.

Samples have been sent to laboratories in England for analysis and a result is expected within 36 hours.
