Paisley Jr accuses Byrne of 'racist' foot and mouth comments

The DUP's Ian Paisley Jr has called on Minister of State Hugh Byrne to withdraw comments he made last week.

Mr Byrne had accused Britain of being the leper of Europe over its failure to curb foot and mouth.

Speaking in Belfast, Mr Paisley said Minister Byrne's comments were disgraceful, racist and an attempt to politicise the epidemic.

They should be withdrawn immediately, he added.
