The Flood Tribunal has heard that former Justice Minister Ray Burke instructed the Department of Communications to examine RTE's finances in 1989.

The inquiry was requested after Ray Burke's close friend and constituent Oliver Barry won a national broadcast licence. RTE had been seeking a £1.14m fee to broadcast Century Radio's signal nationwide.
