ILDA signs up as part of ATGWU
Members of the Irish Locomotive Drivers Association have voted to join the Amalgamated Transport and General Workers Union.
90% of ILDA members were in favour of the move in a secret postal ballot last weekend.
The news means that ILDA members are now part of a recognised union with a negotiating licence.
Two months ago, the Supreme Court upheld a High Court ruling which said it was unlawful for Iarnrod Eireann to negotiate with the ILDA under the terms of the 1941 Trade Union Act.
