Strict controls to stop spread of foot and mouth to Ireland

Strict controls to stop foot and mouth disease spreading to Ireland are being put in place by the Department of Agriculture following the first outbreak of the disease in twenty years in Britain.

The highly infectious virus has been found among pigs at an abattoir in Essex.
