Trawler rescued off English coast

A Co Down-registered trawler was rescued from the Irish Sea in the early hours of this morning, Liverpool Coastguard has revealed.

The crew of the Augentia radioed a mayday call at 2am as it began to take on water 15 miles off the coast of the Isle of Man.

An RAF helicopter was dispatched from Anglesey and lifeboats were sent from Reel and Donghadee in the UK.

The men were eventually rescued injured by the fishing boat Ben Loyal, which arrived on the scene first, and taken to Portvogie in the North.
