A major search operation for a man who is thought to have fallen overboard from a ferry into the Irish Sea has been called off.

A major air and sea search was mounted in the Irish Sea today after a man was seen to go overboard from a Liverpool-bound ferry.

A Co Down-registered trawler was rescued from the Irish Sea in the early hours of this morning, Liverpool Coastguard has revealed.
