UDP leader seeks ceasefire clarification

The Ulster Democratic Party leader Gary McMichael has called on the UDA to clarify the status of its ceasefire.

Mr McMichael's party is closely connected to the UDA and has denied its leadership is involved in the continuing sectarian pipe bomb campaign in the North.

The Catholic workman injured in Moygashel in Co Tyrone is said to be stable in hospital with facial injuries after he set off a booby trap bomb in his digger truck this morning.

Two families in Limavady and another in Dungannon are also recovering after sectarian attacks last night.

Ken Maginnis, the Ulster Unionist MP, called those responsible faceless cowards.

Meanwhile, local SDLP councillor Vincent Currie said there must be organised supply lines to distribute the bombs and the police must track down those responsible.

Members of the UDA are being blamed by Sinn Fein, the SDLP and the RUC.
