Galway businesses under pressure from rubbish row

Galway Chamber of Commerce has said that businesses are being put under enormous pressure by the current refuse dispute.

The row centres on the amount of rubbish that can be dumped in Galway’s last remaining landfill site at Ballinasloe. There has been no refuse collection in the city or county today.

Jarlath Feeney, the Chief Executive of the Galway Chamber of Commerce, says businesses contribute about £15m in rates every year. He says the businesses may not be able to operate if bins are not collected.
