Tanaiste Mary Harney has given the go-ahead for the £30m takeover of County Media Ltd by Ulster Television.

The deal has been approved under competition law - despite being blocked by the Irish Radio and Television Commission last Monday.

County Media owns three radio stations in Co Cork - city-based 96FM, County Sound North in Mallow and County Sound West in Bandon.
