Controlled explosion for 'sophisticated' bomb
Army bomb disposal experts have carried out a controlled explosion on a 1lb bomb thought to have fallen from the underside of a vehicle in Limerick.
The alarm was raised after a suspicious device was spotted on Keane Street, in the Garryowen area of the city, at 2pm.
The area was sealed off and the army bomb squad examined the object using remote robotic equipment.
The device - a pipe between 16in and 18in long and 3.5in in diameter - had magnets on it which could have been used to attach it to vehicle.
An army spokesman described the device as "sophisticated".
