A 23-year-old man is to appear in court in the North in connection with this morning's stabbing in Downpatrick. He will appear before Coleraine Magistrate's Court on Monday, charged with grievous bodily harm with intent.

A 23-year-old man is to appear in court in the North in connection with this morning's stabbing in Downpatrick. He will appear before Coleraine Magistrate's Court on Monday, charged with grievous bodily harm with intent.

The charges relate to an incident at around 1.30am when a 26-year-old man was attacked and stabbed as he walked through the Meadowlands area.

A number of hours later, in an unrelated incident, three masked men, armed with baseball bats and crowbars, burst into a house in Croft Close and attacked an 18-year-old man. He suffered fractures to his legs.
