Alcohol price freeze will end tonight

The controversial price freeze on alcohol imposed by Consumer Affairs Minister Tom Kitt during the summer is due to end at midnight tonight.

It is expected that publicans will react by raising drink prices starting from tomorrow.

The Vintners Federation insists that the livelihoods of many publicans, particularly in rural areas, have been seriously hit by the six-month stay on price hikes.
