Limerick Co Council is investigating allegations that county officials are engaged in 'nixers' outside of work.

The council confirmed today that it had received a letter of complaint from a member of the public claiming four officials are involved.

It is understood the individuals concerned do not work for the planning department.

A spokesperson for the council insisted that county manager Robeaird O'Ceallaigh is satisfied that the complaint, even if substantiated, does not represent a breach of the integrity of the planning system.
