Consumer Affairs Minister Tom Kitt has said drinkers should not have to pay more than £2.30 for a pint.

Minister Kitt was speaking as he confirmed that the six-month maximum price freeze placed on the country's publicans will not be renewed when it expires at midnight on Saturday.

However, he warned that he would be reviewing the situation and would issue a new order again if he felt the public was being cheated.
