High Court told Lawlor will comply with order

The High Court has been told that Liam Lawlor will tell Justice Smyth that he does intend to comply with a court order.

The court order issued last October compels Mr Lawlor to appear and answer all questions about his financial records.

The willingness to comply may strengthen Mr Lawlor's attempt to avoid a term in jail.

Frank Clarke, senior council for the planning tribunal, told Justice Smyth that Liam Lawlor will agree to comply and co-operate with Justice Flood.

However, the court was told that not all documents relating to Liam Lawlor’s affairs have been received for scrutiny.

Frank Clarke said that the fact that Deputy Lawlor did answer certain questions amounted to a blatant breach of a court order issued in October.

He said if Liam Lawlor was unhappy with the scope of the tribunal, he could have come back to court to inform the tribunal that there were areas relating to his financial records that he could not answer.

As he did not do this said Frank Clarke, the court must take appropriate action.

The case continues.
