Mother and son recover after bomb attack

A mother and son are recovering this morning after a bomb was thrown through the window of their lounge and blew up beside them.

There was a loud explosion and the living room of the house in Larne, Co Antrim, was filled with smoke.

Army bomb disposal experts later took the remains of the device away for examination.

There was a second attempted bomb attack on a nearby house 15 minutes later, but that device hit an outside wall and failed to go off.
