Fine Gael calls for govt statement on rural policy

Fine Gael has claimed that the Taoiseach is "turning his back on rural Ireland" by approving the closure of one in five Bank of Ireland branches around the country.

Mayo FG Deputy Michael Ring said the move will devastate communities and said it is time Bertie Ahern stated exactly what is government policy on rural Ireland.
