Infrastructure must improve to help Shannon says airport boss

Management at Shannon airport say major investment in infrastructure is needed in the west if the airport is to continue to thrive.

The call came as Aer Rianta Shannon published its end of year results which showed record passenger figures with over 2.4m people using the airport last year.

However, airport manager Bob Goldfield, says poor transport facilities are a major impediment to the future growth of the facility.

He says if Shannon is to continue serving the west and relieving pressure on Dublin, then they must be provided with proper roads and railways.
