Spain and Portugal most popular holiday choice
Spain and Portugal are shaping up to be the most popular destinations for Irish holiday makers this year. Statistical trends suggest that over 75,000 Irish people will take holidays outside this country in the next 12 months. The Chief Executive of the Irish Travel Agents Association, Brendan Moran, says warm countries that are locked into the euro currency are proving popular. He says there is no question that the recent stability of the euro has given a big boost for those going abroad, because they have not experienced the higher prices that would emanate from other countries like the US and Britain.
