Fears about a proposed new student development near Cork's Lough area has seen residents take to the streets in protest.

The proposal includes 49 student apartments with 350-bed spaces between the Church of the Immaculate Conception and Lough View Terrace off Bandon Road.

Dr Jane O'Connor spoke as local residents gathered in opposition to the proposed high-rise buildings.
