Woman threatened to bite off garda’s nose
Vanessa Sheehan, of 25 City View Mews, Banduff, Cork, pleaded guilty yesterday at Cork District Court to charges of being drunk and a source of danger, and engaging in threatening, abusive, or insulting words or behaviour.
Inspector Brian O’Donovan outlined the incident, which occurred on March 25. Gardaí responded to a call to the Courtown Park area that night because of a disturbance caused by Sheehan.
Garda Ross Breen approached the accused at 4am and found she was highly intoxicated. Sheehan shouted at Garda Breen: “Don’t fucking touch me.”
She then added: “I’ll bite your nose off, you fucking c***, you fucking pig.”
Sheehan was already serving a five-month jail sentence.
Defence solicitor Frank Buttimer said: “Her ‘verbals’ were quite bad, but her aggression did not become physical. It was disruptive to neighbours. Since going into to prison, she has been attempting to access a methadone treatment programme.”
Judge Con O’Leary put Sheehan on a probation bond for a period of 12 months.
The judge was concerned Sheehan — upon her release from prison from the five-month sentence in March 2017 — should come under the direction of the probation service for assistance in dealing with her issues.
