An obstetrician’s fitness to practice inquiry has heard one of his patients suffered from a ruptured uterus, and gave birth to a baby who needed resuscitation.

Consultant obstetrician Salah Aziz Ahmed faces allegations of poor professional performance and professional misconduct relating to the three women who gave birth at Cavan General Hospital between November 2012 and April 2014.

The Medical Council inquiry has already heard details involving one woman, a 37-year-old referred to as Patient One, whose baby boy died 32 hours after he was born November 22, 2012.
