Homeless man injured in altercation

Gardaí have appealed to the public for information on an incident in Cork City centre that left a man in his 50s in a serious condition in hospital.

An altercation between the victim, who is understood to be homeless and sleeping rough in the city, and another man, took place on Lapps Quay, at about 7pm on Wednesday night.

The injured man in his 50s was brought to Cork University Hospital. He is believed to be in a serious condition. No arrests were made and the area was sealed off for a technical examination. The cordon was lifted before 9am yesterday.
