VIDEO: Serious damage after fire at Cork city retailer
The alarm was raised just after 3pm when staff noticed smoke coming from a storeroom on the first floor above its St Patrick’s Street outlet.
Five units of Cork City Fire Brigade rushed to the scene.
Gardaí closed the road to traffic as dozens of fire- fighters began tackling the blaze.
While the blaze broke out in a first-floor storeroom, there were initial concerns the fire could spread to neighbouring buildings.

However, firefighters managed to contain the blaze quickly, and were satisfied that it was under control within an hour.
However, extensive damage was caused to thousands of euro worth of stock.
No injuries were reported.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation, but an initial inspection last night suggested that an electrical fault may to be blame.

A spokesperson for Oasis was not available for comment last night, but it is understood that the St Patrick’s Street store will remain closed today.
