Man faces assault charge

A second man was arrested and brought before Cork District Court yesterday arising out of the investigation of a false imprisonment case where it was alleged that the door of a house was barricaded in Cork City in the early hours of Tuesday.

Detective Garda Maurice Hickey arrested Gavin Ring, aged 26, of 5 St Mary’s Avenue, Gurranabraher, Cork, and brought him to court in custody yesterday.

Defence solicitor, Frank Buttimer, said there was no application for bail. He said that if there was to be a bail application by the accused the State would be put on notice 24 hours in advance.
