A man repeatedly stabbed his mother’s friend in a barricaded bedroom and told the friend and his mother that nobody would leave the room alive.

The man facing three charges related to a false imprisonment at a house where it was alleged that a gas cylinder was thrown down stairs at a garda, indicated yesterday that he would be pleading guilty to all counts against him.

A second man was arrested and brought before Cork District Court yesterday arising out of the investigation of a false imprisonment case where it was alleged that the door of a house was barricaded in Cork City in the early hours of Tuesday.
