Gold clubs in Munster have been warned that they may be targeted by a roving gang of thieves who have stolen cash from clubs across the country recently.

The Golfing Union of Ireland yesterday said gardaí have warned them about thefts from golf clubs in the Connacht and Munster areas recently, and said it is likely further crimes will be committed.

“The first incident took place in Mayo and there have been further subsequent thefts in Galway, Clare and Cork with trolley-dispensing machines being targeted for cash primarily,” the union said yesterday.
