Fire services on alert in Cork following attack in Mayfield

A fire brigade unit was pelted with large rocks and stones when it responded to reports of wheelie bins on fire in the Glenamoy Estate area of Mayfield at around 10.30pm on Monday.

They were attacked close to the area known locally as ‘the tarry path’, which runs behind Mount Brosna, Avonmore Park, and Glenamoy Lawn, and which has been the scene of regular antisocial behaviour.
