The Central Statistics Office is among a number of agencies and government departments close to running out of their allocated funding.

Ministers have been told the Dáil will have to meet soon to approve a final tranche of funding as a number of agencies are close to spending the money they have so far been allocated this year.

Funding for the CSO is particularly urgent as it has front-loaded its budget to fund the Census. Public bodies and departments are allocated four-fifths of their budget each year and a vote of TDs must be taken to approve the final segment.
