Woman injured on shop travelator in Cork

Tesco has confirmed it is investigating an incident at its store in Ballincollig, Co Cork, in which a shopper appears to have been struck by a container wrongly placed on a travelator.

One witness said that the incident, which took place in the store at around 1pm, resulted in a woman being knocked down on the travelator by loaded containers that were placed there in error.

Gardaí in Ballincollig said they were unaware of the incident and the nature of any injuries sustained by the woman in the incident was not clear.

A spokesperson for Tesco Ireland said: “An incident occurred in our Ballincollig store today involving one of our customers and we are investigating the details of what happened.

“We understand our colleagues immediately came to the customer’s assistance and we have since been in touch with the customer to offer her any support possible.”
