Ex-partner followed woman around city, court told

A woman testified in court yesterday that her ex-partner was stalking her by following her around Cork City — sitting beside her on the bus, hiding behind bushes in a park and, on one day, sending her 72 texts.

Inspector Eileen Foster said the woman had been walking on Douglas Rd, heading towards a bus stop, when she received a text from her ex-partner to say that she had just missed one bus but that another bus of a different number was on the way.

The woman could not see her ex-partner, Richard Barry, aged 56, anywhere in the vicinity of the bus stop that day.
