€7m flood scheme for Glanmire progresses

Most of the detailed design for a €7.7m flood prevention scheme in Glanmire, Co Cork, has been completed and it is expected construction will get under way next spring.

Engineers who designed the scheme expect to put it on public display in the autumn and to appoint a contractor shortly afterwards.

The OPW is paying for all the defence works which will stretch along the Glashaboy River from Sallybrook down to the estuary at Glanmire village.
