Danny, who plays Buster in the show, had originally planned just one event to help establish a Pieta House centre in Letterkenny.

But when he saw the tragedy in Buncrana unfold on television in Australia last month as the Mrs Brown’s Boys tour was finishing there, he said he was horrified. Louise James lost her partner Seán McGrotty, 46, sons Mark, 12 and Evan, eight, as well as her mother Ruth Daniels, 59, and her 14-year-old sister Jodi-Lee.

He is planning two events on the same day to raise money for Louise and her baby Rioghnach-Ann, who was rescued from Lough Swilly when Seán’s car slid into the water from the Buncrana slipway.

A celebrity golf classic will take place in Rosapenna Golf Resort in Downings on May 27 and there will be a separate gala dinner that night at the Shandon Hotel and Spa in Dunfanaghy.

Golf teams of four areasked to make a donation of €500, with a table of 10 at the gala dinner costing €750.
