Fine Gael step up bid to form government as round-table talks open

Fine Gael’s efforts to form a minority government will be stepped up today as Enda Kenny hosts the first round-table talks with several groups of TDs.

Fianna Fáil were left scrambling last night to play catch up as momentum slipped away from the party.

Mr Kenny’s aim to build a minority government was strengthened after a group of five rural TDs this week said his party was in “the driving seat”.
