Principal goes on trial accused of assaulting pupil

A primary school principal went on trial at Cork District Court yesterday on a charge of assaulting one of his pupils.

He has been out on suspension since the allegation was made in June 2014.

The defendant said through his solicitor, Frank Buttimer, that nobody was accusing the boy of making anything up.
