LATEST... The embattled Labour leader has come out fighting after criticism of her performance in this week’s TV election debate. Joan Burton says she has no intention of “standing back” and “doing a little bit of Downton Abbey and the tea cups”.

LATEST... Anti-Austerity Alliance TD Paul Murphy has urged people to continue to boycott water charges and make it a key election issue by attending a mass rally in Dublin this weekend.

LATEST... The Social Democrats will not appoint Stephen Donnelly as its leader, despite his strong performance during the leader’s TV debate on Monday night.

LATEST... A senior Fianna Fáil TD has refused to rule out his party supporting a minority Fine Gael-Labour government, saying “we will discuss all options” after the imminent election.

ANALYSIS... Enda Kenny was forced to admit that his message of “keep the recovery going” has not been understood by people. He says the weakness in his message is that the recovery has not translated into people’s lives.

IRELAND

A recall of around 600 patients who had undergone bowel screening at Wexford General Hospital found that 12 cancers had been missed including one death which may well have been avoidable.
