A man, whose brother knifed three people in Germany before being killed while crossing a motorway, has been given a three-year suspended sentence after stabbing his friend nine times.

Daniel ‘Skippy’ McLaughlin, from Carndonagh, Co Donegal, appeared before Letterkenny Circuit Court after a frenzied knife attack during which he used a 10in knife on another man.

His brother, Enda, made international headlines two years ago when he went on a knifing spree in Germany before being killed.
