Extra 6,500 Euro 2016 tickets for Irish football fans

Fans of the Boys in Green got a ticket boost last night with news an extra 6,500 seats are available for the Republic of Ireland’s three Euro 2016 group games in June.

But while the 25% increase in tickets for supporters of Martin O’Neill’s side brings the total allocation so far to 32,502, most hoping to get into the stadiums in France will be left disappointed. More than 275,000 tickets have been applied for, with European soccer’s governing body to inform all applicants of their status by the end of February.

Welcoming the increase secured last Friday, Football Association of Ireland CEO John Delaney said they will go some way to satisfying huge demand.
