A Croatian woman in her 20s is stable at Cork University Hospital (CUH) after she was attacked by a pitbull mastiff at her home in Mitchelstown, Co Cork.

The woman suffered serious injuries to her arm when the dog attacked her at the home she shares with her partner at Upper Cork St in the town. Her partner owns the dog. Neighbours came to the assistance of the woman after they heard her screams for help shortly after 9am on Monday.

Gardaí rushed to the scene. Fortunately the Garda station is just a few doors away from the victim’s rented home.
