Children's minister James Reilly to answer to UN on kids' rights

The plight of children in poverty and homelessness will today come under an international spotlight when government representatives go before a UN inspection team to defend their record on children’s rights.

Children’s Minister James Reilly will lead the delegation during the day-long grilling on safeguards for children in the health, education, and welfare systems by the UN Committee on the Rights of the Child in Geneva.

Dozens of children’s charities, campaign groups, and the Children’s Ombudsman will also get a chance to raise their concerns with the UN officials about the State’s performance.
