Conor McGregor could coin it after petition to put him on €1 coin

He has cashed in on his fighting career and now Conor McGregor’s success could be turned into hard currency.

Politicians are to debate if the mixed martial artist should appear on the €1 coin.

The Petitions Committee will meet today to discuss a number of petitioner’s requests including that Mr McGregor feature on our currency.

‘The Notorious’ knocked out opponent Jose Aldo after just 13 seconds last month to claim the UFC Featherweight Championship .

Committee chairman Pádraig MacLochlainn said: “Our first meeting of 2016 will allow the committee consider and action a further group of petitions submitted by members of the public.”
