Record-breaking dual GAA star Briege Corkery kick-started 2016 as she finished last year — with a big match.

The Cork camogie and ladies’ football star wedded Diarmuid Scannell in her local St John the Baptist Church in Rusheen yesterday, with an overspill of guests watching the ceremony on a streamed feed into the local GAA club.

Briege, 29, made history in September, with Rena Buckley, by claiming a 16th All-Ireland winner’s medal — 10 for football and six for camogie.
