The Garda file in the case against a man accused of killing a French homeless man in Cork City will be completed and ready to be sent to the Director of Public Prosecutions before Christmas, it emerged yesterday.

File on killing of French homeless man to go to DPP

Inspector John Deasy said yesterday: “On the basis of one piece of evidence that was only obtained in the last number of days, I am advised by the investigating officer that a file will be sent to the DPP before Christmas.”

The inspector said that, on that basis, he was applying for a remand in custody for three weeks.
