Gardaí examining RTE's 'sting' investigation into councillors

A Government minister has confirmed that gardaí are examining the RTE programme that uncovered politicians looking for personal gain and others who failed to declare interests.

Junior agriculture minister Tom Hayes made the comments in the Dail as TDs called on councillors who featured in the RTÉ ‘sting’ investigation to resign from their positions.

The RTÉ programme revealed three councillors who had sought money or personal gain in exchange for supporting a fake company, being promoted by an undercover reporter.
