Nine husky pups are lucky to be alive after being dumped on a rubbish pile at woodland in Co Laois.

The puppies were found by a couple out walking their dog at Garryhinch Woods at around 2pm on Sunday. They contacted Laois-based voluntary animal charity Cara Rescue Dogs.

A spokeswoman for Cara Rescue Dogs said the puppies had been left in a bag on a “rubbish pile” just inside the gates to the woodland.
