Cork doctor jailed for sex assault on girl, 15

A north Cork doctor convicted by a jury of indecently assaulting a 15-year-old girl during a medical examination shortly before Christmas 1989 was jailed for two years yesterday.

Kevin Mulcahy, aged 57, of Creggane, Lombardstown, Mallow, Co Cork, denied the charge of indecently assaulting the complainant. There was a hung jury in the trial two years ago. This week, a new jury at Cork Circuit Criminal Court took only 39 minutes to reach their unanimous guilty verdict.

The victim, who is now in her 30s, said she still breaks down in tears in front of her children about what happened to her but she cannot tell them what was done to her.
