Cork County Council urged to investigate modular homes option to ease social housing demand

Quick-build homes, better known as modular houses, could be used by Cork County Council to accommodate people who urgently need a roof over their heads.

However, council chief executive Tim Lucey said such a proposal would only be considered if the local authority was running behind on its social housing building commitment, over the next two years.

Fine Gael councillor Susan McCarthy proposed the provision of modular housing to tackle a growing waiting list.
