Department of the Environment defends 'valuable work' done by An Taisce

The Department of the Environment has defended the “valuable work” of An Taisce, and rejected a local authority’s call to cut funding to the heritage body.

The department also asserted that the national trust body did not receive financial aid specifically in relation to being a planning watchdog.

An Taisce, however, did receive €3m last year from a number of government agencies and departments for environmental projects.
